WFRP5 - Sylvania -The Cursed Country- (Cubicle7)

Finally back! But, even I haven't posted for sometime I have been reading the latests products.

Cubicle sure surprises with their sourcebooks sometimes. I didn't expect sourcebook about Sylvania at this point, but I don't mind either. Maybe it will be useful eventually (part of something that is coming...). And this is also officially WFRP5 sourcebook now (but works with WFRP4 rules too).

Cubicle7:
WFRP5 Sylvania -The Cursed Country-

Species/Cultures: -
Careers: -
Religion: -
Magic: -
Equipment: Sylvanian Riverboats (Punt, Flat Bottomed Barge, Strigani Narrowboat), Drakenhof Sundries, Catchist Heavy Crossbow, Catechist Stake, Sylvanian Coaching Inn Costs
Bestiary: Sylvanian Drakenhund, Crypt Ghast, Crypt Horror, Patchwork Man, few special undead...

  • Chapter I - Introduction: Venturing into the Dark. Nice little introduction to Stirland and Sylvania with, again, new map from the area. Presents current political situation and different factions. The information about Stirland is left little thin, but still interesting details. Stats are given to current young count Alberich V from House Haupt-Anderssen. And there is also Gazetteer of Sylvania, interesting patrons (with stats) and Timeline.

Where are the cultural profiles for Stirlanders, Sylvanian folk and Strigany? To be made by as fans?
  • Chapter II - On the Lonely Back Roads: Travel in Sylvania. Prices, events, travel by river, travel by land. Forests, marshes...
  • Chapter III - Lanterns in the Fog: Details about settlements in the Sylvania. Some of the famous settlements get good description here. But, it would be nice to have some new settlement maps also. Like here from Drakenhof or Waldenhof (which are more detailed). Details about Cult of Morr (but no Careers...).
  • Chapter IV - The Dark of the Forest: Famous locations, and their dangers.
  • Chapter V - Sylvania NPCs
  • And finally NO, there are no Vampires or Vampire creation rules or Necromancer Careers or Spells here either. But, maybe we can do something about that too...

Warhammer Background Information #2: Maps

Maps. You always need one. Once there wasn't that much good maps for the WFRP, and many parts of the Warhammer World were not even mapped. As more and more background information started to come Warhammer World started to appear and expand. Besides few official maps also good fan-cartographers started to appear too. There are really beautiful maps and mapping projects going on today. I just wanted to link few good ones, where you can find official and unofficial maps to explore the Warhammer World.

Total War: Warhammer WIKI. Index page
Total War: Warhammer WIKI --> Interactive Maps. You can find Total War: Warhammer world regions and factions from the Immortal Empires and Mortal Empires maps.

Games Workshop - Warhammer: The Old World. From this page you can find interactive official map detailing the locations and factions of the game.

Atlas of the Old World. This is interesting and beautiful fan-project to map the Warhammer Old World.

Gitzmans Gallery [HTTP]. Index page.
Gitzmans Gallery [HTTP] --> The Map. One of the most important fan-sites in my opinion. Features The Super Huge, Detailed Map of the Warhammer Old World.

Mad Alfreds WFRP Pages. Go to Maps and Gazetteers and you can find all his maps. This is truly iconic site. Also one of the most important fan-sites ever in my opinion. Has huge amount of his WFRP work, besides maps.

Winds of Chaos. Index page.
Winds of Chaos --> Maps. I probably should mention Winds of Chaos too. Many ways very important fan-site, which has pretty nice maps.

Gunsor Roxes Maps (buymeacoffee shop). This cartographer is something that should be mentioned here. He has a large number of beautiful maps detailing different locations of the Warhammer World. You can find his maps from here, which is his shop. If you want to see more about his maps, do visit Warhammer Reddit too where he posts them too.

WFRP5 (WFRP4) - Temple of Spite (Cubicle7)

First - This is not Players Guide to Dark Elves (Druchii). This book is similar as Tribes and Tribulations (WFRP4 Sourcebook). Dark Elves are probably considered more as NPC, than something you would play. Even book has a good deal of information about Dark Elves it doesn't have different cultural skill & talents (just one generic set) or career lists or any special careers. Which is little sad.

Second - this seems to be first WFRP 5th Edition Sourcebook (before actual Core Rulebook). This is mentioned on the first page and for example the bestiary and NPC templates have a new look. But otherwise it seems very much like WFRP4, as WFRP5 should be what we have heard so far.

Cubicle7:
WFRP5 Temple of Spite

Species/Cultures: Druchii (single generic)
Careers: -
Religion: Khaine
Magic: Dark Magic
Equipment: Melee Weapons, Missile Weapons, Armour, Poisons and Potions, Chariots, Sailing Ships, Beast-Hauled Vessels
Bestiary: Cold Ones (Naggarothi), Dark Pegasi, Dark Steeds, Druchii (various), Harpies, Helldrakes, Kharibdyss, Mantigores, Sea Dragons, War Hydras

  • Chapter I - The Dark Elves: How Druchii are seen and just little about their history.
  • Chapter II - Naggaroth: Gives few details about the Naggaroth and includes nice map about "The Land of Chill". Then some information about Malerion (Malekith), their society, religion, little info about their cities. This is very quick review of the land (like mine about this sourcebook). It doesn't go to details.
  • Chapter III - The Temple of Spite: Temple of Spite is a black ark. This chapter details these massive and strange constructions. There are maps about the ark. Also it's history and voyages. Arks power, politics, personel, cults, encounters, life, events... And finally chapter also has information (and map) about the Island of Rrinnhasha.
  • Chapter IV - Bestiary: Little more details about Druchii and many ready made profiles (new style). These is also number of beasts. And you can find long lost "Mark of Slaanesh" from this chapter.
  • Chapter V - Equipment and Ships: As name says.
  • Chapter VI - Dark Magic: More details about Druchii Sorceresses. Details about Dark Magic and Soul Pacts. And then there is the Lore of Dark Magic with many spells. Finally chapter also has Gifts of Khaine.
  • Chapters VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII and XIII all detail various Druchii groups. There is NPC stats, their motives and goals, ideas how to use them...etc.
  • Chapter XIV - Patrons and Nemeses: Unlike chapter name says, first the chapter has rules for designing Druchii (just one page). Then we go to number of NPCs detailed.
